CORMAC, a health data analytic company, is pleased to announce that the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has chosen our team to support two key systems: the Patient Safety Organization Privacy Protection Center and the Network of Patient Safety Databases. AHRQ implements and administers several aspects of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005, and these complementary systems facilitate efforts for Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs) to promote rapid learning about the underlying causes of risks and harms in the delivery of health care while maintaining compliance with confidentiality provisions of the Patient Safety Rule.
AHRQ‘s mission is to produce evidence to make health care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable, and affordable, and to work within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and with other partners to make sure that the evidence is understood and used. Their approach to accomplishing these objectives is based upon health systems research, practice improvement, and data & analytics.
To help PSOs participate in the program and ultimately improve patient safety, CORMAC will provide an array of Health IT systems support, website development, technical assistance, and data analysis & reporting services to AHRQ.
As a 19-year partner to our nation’s federal health agencies, CORMAC understands the importance of patient safety and health care quality improvement. This project is well-aligned to our goal of working at the forefront of public health, helping to improve healthcare quality through the innovative use of data. We look forward to helping AHRQ and the PSOs realize improved outcomes and reduced harm for the sake of all patients. With the challenges our national health infrastructure has faced over the past 2 years, it is more important than ever to do all we can to succeed in that aim.
