CORMAC has been awarded a task by HHS/CMS to migrate Medicare claims that are currently in legacy mainframe systems to the AWS Cloud. At present, Medicare claims are collected and stored in an IBM mainframe as part of the National Claims History (NCH) system. Current NCH data residing on the mainframe includes data files from 1991 through the present. The Medicare claims in NCH are used by several downstream data repositories, systems, and users.
CORMAC will migrate this data to the AWS Cloud in order to leverage the modern platform’s lower cost, flexible storage, and computing capacity. This data migration project will use Agile and DevOps processes. The process and implementation approach can be reused in the modernization of other legacy systems.
